The primary aim of this group is to explore the significance of cultural displacement in the lives of diasporic immigrants, and the problems associated with the aspect of migration, for instance, trauma, alienation, rootlessness and loss of belonging. The significance of remembering and forgetting in diaspora studies is an important area of engagement of this group. It will further probe into making a comparative study of the differences in experience in the movement of the immigrants within the home country as well as to the host nation. The group will also study how the diaspora communities negotiate the anxieties and complexities of displacement. The study will also extend to the itinerant communities like pastoralists, nomads, and hunters, for whom a diasporic sentiment is a part of their very consciousness.
