Comparative Manuscriptology, conceptualized by Delhi Comparatists in the last decade, is a way of understanding manuscript traditions from the perspective of comparative studies. Apart from interrogating and deconstructing colonial/oriental approaches/concepts to manuscripts such as ur-text, recensions and its consequent erasures. Comparative Manuscriptology looks at manuscripts as pluralistic epistemology, intermedial representations, sites of discursive discourse and repositories of indigenous knowledge systems. Making use of the developments during the post-1990s such as transmediality, spatiality and digital humanities, this new field aims to study manuscript tradition as a composite culture.
